  2. Joanna, We just came down in the morning and there it was. What a clever doggie!

    Actually, not quite so clever. The light is from the top right: he just clawed his way into the wall for fun.

    Strange that even though we know that the light is probably coming from above, we see it as lit from bottom left. The same effect was widely discussed when the first photos of the surface of the moon came out, with craters seen as strange, flat hummocks.

    I love your blog, by the way.

    (I think of Poland as Central rather than Eastern Europe: am I very wrong? After all, it's geographically half way between the Urals and the Atlantic and has been at the hub of European culture since before Chopin, with possibly a slight gap in for the second half of the last century.)

    Kurt, You're quite right: his smug Muttley chuckle doesn't really come across in the picture. I'll see what I can do.
